Cultivating Wonder:
Art and Beauty in Education

Classical education understands that experiencing beauty is vital for human growth. Students regularly engage with great works of art, music, and literature not just as academic subjects but as gateways to wonder and awe.

From studying the mathematical precision of Gothic cathedrals to exploring the emotional depth of classical music, students develop what the Greeks called “aesthetic sense”—the ability to recognize and appreciate true beauty.

At South Bay Classical Academy, the arts are a core part of our curriculum. Each year, students are immersed in the three main art disciplines: drama, visual art, and music. Students will have opportunities to perform on stage throughout the year in theatrical ensembles as part of our drama program. Additionally, each grade level will explore the visual arts through drawing, painting, and other media. In the musical arts, students will receive instruction in chorus and have the chance to participate in the Children’s Choir.

Starting in Grade 3, students at SBCA will also receive instruction in stringed instruments, specifically the violin, viola, and cello.
