Character & Virtue Formation
More than Just Excellent Academics
Central to the philosophy of classical education is the belief that schools should nurture not only students’ minds but also their hearts.
At SBCA, we will emphasize what it means to be a good person just as much as what it means to excel academically. As stated in the motto of the University of Florida, “in the character of its citizens lies the welfare of the state” (civium in moribus rei publicae salus).
We believe that by raising young people of good and virtuous character, our society will ultimately become a better one. These lessons are interwoven throughout the curriculum daily and reinforced through community assemblies and gatherings that celebrate our core values. As our school motto denotes, we actively cultivate our wisdom for the benefit of humanity.
